Wolves

Wolves are part of the canine family.  They live all around the world.  They might even live by you.

  • They live up to 13 years
  • They are grey, black, or white
  • They have 42 teeth
  • They weigh 1 pound when they are born
  • Their packs have 2 to 30 members
  • Pups are born deaf and blind
  • They have two layers of fur
  • They are territorial animals

Elephants

Elephants are the largest animals on land. They can weigh as much as a 5000 to 14000 pounds.


  • They live in sub-Saharan Africa and the rain forests of Central and West Africa
  • They eat grasses, roots, fruit, and bark
  • They also live in Nepal, India, and Southeast Asia
  • They live 30 to 50 years
  • The baby is called a calf
  • The mother is called a cow and the father is called a bull
  • The baby will weigh 200 pounds when it is born
  • a group of elephants is called a herd

Toque Macaque

Happy Earth Day!  Since its Earth Day i watched the new Disney Nature movie Monkey Kingdom
and since i watched that movie i decided to write about the animals the movie is about.


  • they are a reddish brown color
  • they usually live in ancient temples
  • the troops have usually 20 
  • they are commonly found in the Cultural Triangle
  • they have a strict social hierarchy
  • their young are helpless
  • they store food in their mouths
  • they are very social

Panda

This black and white bear is practically extinct. They live in the Eastern part of China.

  • spends two-thirds of its day feeding
  • they are mostly solitary except in breeding season
  • there is 1600 surviving pandas in China
  • they will climb 13000 feet
  • they are very skilled hunters
  • they have a highly developed sense of smell
  • they stay with their mother for 18 months

Walrus

The walrus is a chubby marine mammal that lives in The North Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

  • They are the "Gentle Giants" of the Arctic
  • They are among the largest pinnepeds
  • they weigh from 500-1500 kilograms
  • Their gestation period 15-16 days
  • they are in jeopardy of extinction
  • a full grown walrus tusk can weigh up to 12 lbs
  • they can remain under water for 30 min.
  • their skin is very thick
  • one of the main causes of death for a walrus is a parasite found in water

Pigs

Today I decided to write about pigs because my best friend loves pigs.  

  • they are remarkably intelligent
  • they are extremely social
  • they are very clean
  • very peaceful animals
  • scientists have created glow-in-the-dark pigs
  • is the last animal in the Chinese zodiac
  • newborn piglets learn to run to their mothers voice and recognize their own names
  • they dream like humans
  • my best friend thinks they are the cutest animals on earth

Sloth

These are my favorite animals. When i grow up i want to work in the sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica.
Even though they are the slowest animals on earth they are adorable.

  • they only sleep around 10 hours a day
  • they only go down from a tree to poop
  • they have a poop dance
  • there is two sub-species
  • their main predators are eagles, snakes, and jaguars
  • the females have a mating call
  • in trees they move 3 meters per minute
  • on the ground they move 2 meters per minute
  • three-toed sloths can swim two-toed sloths can not
  • algae can grow on them

Echidna

The Echidna is a monotreme. These spiny creatures live in the forests of Australia.  Some sub species are extinct.

  • They are known as "Spiny Anteaters"
  • the spines are modified hairs which they can control
  • they live slow and long
  • they are egg laying mammals
  • they are tooth-less
  • they have unusual brains
  • they host the worlds largest flea
  • the baby is called a Puggle

French Bulldog

French Bulldogs are by far my favorite dogs.  These dogs are very expensive.  One time i was so close to my parents letting me get one, until they saw the price.  It was near $4,000.


  • they are not from France
  • they are from England
  • they have a strict weight limit
  • they were one of the top five breeds in 1909-1914
  • healthy ones will live up to 10-12 years
  • although small they make great watch dogs
  • they are prone to overheating
  • they do not require much grooming

Kiwi

No not the fruit the bird.  The kiwi bird is getting even more endangered every day.  There is a recovery programme that helps kiwis less endangered

  • there are five subspecies of kiwis all are endangered
  • we lose 27 kiwis every week that's 2% every month
  • kiwis are nocturnal
  • they are the only birds with nostrils
  • the egg weighs 15 percent of the mothers body weight
  • females are larger than males
  • they have one of the largest body to egg ratios
  • it has tiny wings and cannot fly
  • their feathers are more like fur

Ivory-Billed Woodpecker


The Ivory-Billed woodpecker is so rare that is even considered by some to be extinct.  Scientists don't know that much about it because it's so rare.  If you're very, very, very lucky you may see one. This post may not have that many facts in it.



  • it's the largest woodpecker north of Mexico
  • it is endangered because of destruction of its natural habitat
  • their bills were used to make Native-American decorations
  • they eat insects like beetles and larvae
  • the population is unknown
  • there was only one sighting in the last five years
  • it will live from 4 to 11 years
  • the young leave the nest after 25 to 30 days

Chinchillas

This post is about chinchillas because my dad doesn't know what it is.  First time i told my dad about them he thought that it was a Mexican food even though its not used in food at all.

  • they are rodents
  • they are often kept as pets
  • they are native to the Andes Mountains of Chile
  • they almost went extinct because of the demand of their soft silky fur
  • they first started appearing 41 million years ago
  • they are very sensitive to heat
  • they have the softest fur of all land mammals
  • they can see with their whiskers
  • they take dust baths

Wolverine

This post is about the wolverine. An animal in the weasel family.  It may be vicious but also act just like a dog.  The wolverine is an endangered animal. These animals can be tame also.

  • it is called the "skunk bear"
  • they are carnivores
  • for them a snow storm is heaven
  • they can eat dead animals that were trapped under the snow
  • a wolverine called M56 located in Grand Teton National Park walked 500 miles in just 2 months
  • its favorite food is caribou
  • its scientific name is Gulo Gulo  
  • it weighs from 22 to 70 pound

Sugar Gliders

This post is dedicated to my friends in Australia the sugar gliders.  They are far one of the most interesting and adorable animals.  My dream pet is a sugar glider.  (if i lived in Australia)  Here i listed some facts about the Sugar Glider.

  • they are marsupials
  • they weigh as much as 4 ounces when adults
  • they can glide over 150 feet!
  • they use their tails like rudders when gliding
  • people keep them as pets
  • in the wild they live in groups of 15-30 
  • they have opposable fingers and toes
