Ivory-Billed Woodpecker
The Ivory-Billed woodpecker is so rare that is even considered by some to be extinct. Scientists don't know that much about it because it's so rare. If you're very, very, very lucky you may see one. This post may not have that many facts in it.
- it's the largest woodpecker north of Mexico
- it is endangered because of destruction of its natural habitat
- their bills were used to make Native-American decorations
- they eat insects like beetles and larvae
- the population is unknown
- there was only one sighting in the last five years
- it will live from 4 to 11 years
- the young leave the nest after 25 to 30 days
This is a drawing of one.
This is one of the only known photographs.
Until next time... "Bye"
